Psalms is one of my favorite books in the Bible. It always reminds me that our experience is not unique. The troubles we go through have been experienced by many before us, and will be by experienced by many after us (until our Lord comes). Psalms is always inspirational, they serve to show us that despite the trials and tribulations we go through in this life, God is bigger than all of them put together. He is constant, never-changing, never-failing, a Rock, a Strong Tower to Whom we can run and in Whose shadow we find shelter.
From time to time, I find myself writing my own personal psalms. While I never intended to share them, I have been told by the Holy Spirit, “I didn’t give these to you to keep to yourself, others will be comforted and consoled the same way writing them comforted and consoled you.” So, without trying to sound arrogant, here is a psalm of Todd when in Brazil and helpless to address issues with a child in the USA.
I yearn for You, Adonai.
You are HOLY,
Unlike any other.
I am not worthy to be in Your presence,
But You call out to me in my yearnings;
Saying “Call unto Me and I will answer.
You created your problems,
But I Am created you;
Call out My Name:
I Am your provider,
I Am your healer,
God Almighty, Lord.
Call out My Name
And I will answer you.
I will answer your need.”
Who am I that You should consider my cries?
Who am I that You should hear my wants?
Yet, I come before You, screaming, hear my cries, I need Your power.
Save me from my enemies,
Save me from myself.
All praise belongs to You, O Lord.
All glory is due to You, El Shaddai,
God Almighty!
